Overview

Attorney Matt Casey is a fourth-generation St. Louis trial lawyer with more than 25 years of litigation experience. As a principal attorney at Casey & Devoti, Matt represents individuals and families who have been seriously injured by negligence, medical malpractice, defective products, dangerous property conditions, motor vehicle collisions, and other wrongful conduct.

Matt’s approach to the practice of law is rooted in the values on which his father, Thomas Casey, founded the firm more than 40 years ago: honesty, integrity, preparation, and hard work. Those principles continue to guide Casey & Devoti today. Matt believes every client deserves personal attention, clear communication, and a lawyer who is willing to do the work necessary to pursue the best possible result.

Before joining Casey & Devoti, Matt practiced with a large corporate defense firm, where he defended claims on behalf of companies and insurers. That experience gave him valuable insight into how defendants evaluate, defend, and attempt to minimize personal injury claims. Today, Matt uses that knowledge to anticipate defense strategies, build stronger cases, and advocate effectively for injured clients.

Matt’s practice includes all areas of personal injury litigation, with particular experience in complex injury cases involving medical malpractice, commercial truck crashes, serious motor vehicle collisions, product liability, and catastrophic injuries. As injury cases increasingly involve detailed medical issues, corporate policies, vehicle data, product design, digital evidence, and other technical information, Matt works to investigate beyond the surface of a case and identify the facts needed to prove what happened and why.

Known by colleagues and clients as smart, tough, honest, and prepared, Matt brings a thoughtful and disciplined approach to every case. He understands that clients often come to the firm during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. For that reason, he works to provide not only strong legal representation, but also steady guidance, compassion, and confidence throughout the process.

Matt is committed to holding negligent parties accountable and helping clients obtain the justice and compensation they deserve. Whether a case involves a serious crash, a medical mistake, an unsafe product, or another life-changing injury, he approaches each matter with careful preparation, practical judgment, and a deep sense of responsibility to the people he represents.

Matt is also widely respected within the legal profession. He was elected by fellow attorneys to serve on the Board of Governors of The Missouri Bar, representing District 11, which encompasses the City of St. Louis. This role reflects the trust placed in him by other lawyers and his ongoing commitment to service, professionalism, and leadership within the Missouri legal community.

A lifelong resident of Richmond Heights, Missouri, Matt is deeply involved in his community. He is a member of Little Flower Catholic Church, where he volunteers his time and talents. Like his father before him, Matt also served on the Richmond Heights City Council. He and his wife, Becky, have three children: Evelyn, Henry, and Frannie. Away from the office, Matt enjoys spending time with family and friends and supporting community education and safety initiatives such as the End Distracted Driving awareness program.
