Tom Casey Awarded Britt Memorial Award

Thomas J. Casey was awarded the James T. Britt Memorial Award at the annual Missouri Lawyers Assistance Conference, held October 10 and 11, 2008 in Kansas City. The award is presented by the Lawyers Assistance Committee to an individual who over the years or in a pioneering manner has advanced the cause of relief and recovery for impaired attorneys in Missouri. Mr. Casey has served as liaison from the Board of Governors of the Bar to the Lawyer Assistance Committee for a number of years. He has served as a Molap volunteer, directly contacting and coaching troubled attorneys. He has served as an Attorney Monitor, maintaining constructive contact with attorneys under monitoring agreements with the Board of Law Examiners and/or the Office of Chief Disciplinary Counsel. The Committee also noted Mr. Casey’s service on the Board of Harris House, a well-regarded treatment facility for substance abuse in St. Louis. “ Mr. Casey’s high level of interest and involvement over many years made this an easy decision for the Committee,” according to current Molap Director Jim Brady of Jefferson City.
